Oil Bund Gates
Oil Containment Bund Gate Protection
Client: Civil Engineer
Project: Containment Bund Gates
A civil engineering firm required the supply and install of a 4m wide single leaf bund containment gate to be fitted within the bund wall of oil tank farms at a refinery. The gates were to be designed to maintain the integrity of the bund should a tank fail.
The client required an innovative design involving two frames and one set of leafs meaning maintenance could be undertaken on separate tanks whilst still maintaining containment. It was also to be used to provide access to the area and therefore needed to be easily operable by one operative.

Deflection on a bund gate
We used a specific seal that would resist the corrosive oils in a spilling event and would provide 12 hour fire resistance.
The gate frames were cast in with the new wing walls, with suitable foundation and wing walls cast to ensure the structure could support the load against the gate in the event of tank failure.
The civils work was prepared by the main contractor and our engineers attended site on two separate occasions to install the gate frames and leafs.
